Strategic Sourcing Internship:
This part of the agency handles the state contracts and awards. As such, the interns would participate in the following types of jobs: doing needs assessments to determine if an agency needs certain products or services, creating an internal profile of the agency looking at its database of vendors, buying trends, etc., doing an external profile or market analysis of vendors which involves surveying vendors, trade associations and technology. Then they would participate in the development of a sourcing plan: how is the bid handled? Is it by RFP? How many years is good for (1,2,3). What will be included in the award? How will the award be calculated and priced? Interns will also look at other important bid factors such as vendor reputation, past performance and quality. Another aspect of this job may be to participate in implementing the sourcing strategy that could include the teleconference training of vendors. They anticipate that interns will operate in teams of 3 working professionals. They will participate in discussions and some aspect of the research.
